Biography

Vera K.

Born in Split, Croatia in 1956, Vera K. is a true citizen of the world.  After being formally educated in the fields of math, physics and economics, Vera has devoted her energies to the pursuit of art and life.

She began painting at an early age, fascinated by the people and landscapes of her native land. Before settling in the Mexican Caribbean, Vera traveled extensively around the world; visting and living in Europe, Iraq, Egypt, Africa, Japan and South America. Her work can be found in permanent galleries and private collections in England, Ireland, Holland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other parts of the world.

Vera's art is unique and full of life -- inspired by the sights and people she has met along her journey.  Today, she finds her source of inspiration in the colors, textures and personalities of the indigenous people of Mexico and South America.

Oil on canvas is her primary medium, with which she continues to explore and experiment using various styles and techniques. Her watercolor works are vibrant examples of creative expression. Vera's desire to maintain a positive effect on the world around her has also led her to work with found objects and recycled materials from everyday life in Mexico.

In addition to painting, Vera's creativity extends into other areas of the arts as well. She writes ands directs plays, has a background and interest in music, and is an avid student of philosophy.
